Bike Rider

There is a human tide that washes over the Earth. Ebb and flow. Like crystiline salt, we form into rigid pillars that begin to crumble as soon as they are formed. Pillars that will in time, return to the tide and then vanish leaving only a new spot for the tide to flow again.
We are born into the human collective. Dropped into a river that flows to meet the tide. That tide is visible everywhere. The steady flow of traffic, a plane and vapour trail. A mother and a stroller.

In the city the tide moves fast. So fast you can’t possibly notice all that is laid out in front of you.

This is why I ride a bike.

On my bike I am separate from and part of the tide.

I am slow enough to see but fast enough to be free.

I am a bike rider.
